The Science Behind Rest & Restore

This programme is grounded in the Rest & Restore Protocol, developed by neuroscientist Dr. Stephen Porges, creator of Polyvagal Theory. His research revealed that the vagus nerve – the key communicator between brain and body – plays a central role in how we experience safety, calm, and connection. When our nervous system is in a constant state of survival (fight, flight, or freeze), true rest becomes impossible.

I don’t know if I have time for this.

This isn’t another task — it’s a space to come home to yourself. Rest & Nourish is designed to give back time and energy by helping your body come out of chronic stress states. You’ll feel the shift in your sleep, focus, and emotional capacity — not just during sessions, but between them.

I should be able to fix this on my own – or I could play relaxing music on Spotify.

This programme honours your strength — that’s how you learned to survive. At the same time, most of us didn’t learn how to truly rest, or how to help our body when it gets stuck in activation or depletion (or both!). This is an invitation to be guided, to sit back and relax and let the listening therapy do the heavy lifting. It’s different to music on YouTube or Spotify – Rest and Restore Protocol (RRP) is a new, scientifically engineered listening therapy, backed by decades of research studying physiological rhythms in the body, including heart rate, respiration, blood pressure and digestion, alongside deep knowledge of advanced sound technology. Using biological rhythms embedded in unique musical themes, RRP provides a tool to signal the healing functions of the autonomic nervous system to gently move into biobehavioral states of calmness and relaxation. It’s the ultimate biohack!
